Short Top Boxes are acid-free, lignin-free, buffered storage containers designed for safe, long-term preservation of many collectibles. Often referred to as “archival shoe boxes,” they combine durability with archival-quality materials to protect your collections from light, dust, and environmental pollutants.

The 04-003 box is perfect for storing loose 4 x 6'' photographs and postcards. On average you can fit 100 photographs per inch. This means you may fit about 1000 photos into this box. See also the 4 x 6 Simple Kit!
To sort and label categories for your photos and postcards in the 04-003 box, you can use the All Purpose Index Cards (02-04-Index). These Index Cards are scored along the side and bottom edges, so they can be trimmed to fit into this box.
The 04-103 Short Top Box is designed to hold CDs. If storing CDs in standard size jewel cases it will hold up to 28 CDs.
The 04-015 Short Top Box can hold up to 24 VHS tapes in their original cardboard sleeves. This box will also hold approximately 40 DVDs and Blu Rays in their original cases.

• Gray and tan boards pass the PAT (Photographic Activity Test) ISO 14523 formally ANSI IT9.16
• ArchivalGrade Boxboard Colors: Tan with White interior / Black with Black interior / Gray with White interior, .056'' thick
• Tan and Gray finish: smooth plate finish
• Black finish: textured paper laminated on acid-free black core
• Buffered: contains a minimum of 3% calcium carbonate (CaCO3) with a pH range 8-9.5
• Made from fully bleached, high alpha cellulose pulp. It does not contain any post consumer waste recycled pulp. Paper is free of metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, residual bleach, peroxide, sulfur content is less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur.
• The lignin content is measured by the phloroglucinol test with a Kappa number of 5 or less.
• Metallic Impurities, Iron will not exceed 150 ppm and copper shall not exceed 6 ppm.No optical brightening agents are used in the pulp.
• Alkaline or neutral sizing are used. No alum rosin or rosin sizing are used.
• Color dyes are light-fast and non-bleeding.
• Surface of the paper is smooth and free from knots, shives and abrasive particles.
