Application: Our acid- and lignin-free white 80lb. text-weight paper is buffered with a 2% calcium carbonate reserve to prevent acid migration and environmental contamination. It is ideal for album pages, interleaving between prints, or for lining when an acid-free surface is needed.

NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) recommends buffered paper stock for the storage of all photographic materials (except cyanotypes and dye-transfer images). The degradation of all paper products over time means that the use of non-buffered, neutral paper stock in the storage of photographs can quickly result in an local environment that becomes increasingly acidic. Recent research has shown that the only hazard to alkaline-sensitive photographs its prolonged exposure to water (which, of course, should always be avoided in any case).

Features: Our Archival Paper is made from high alpha cellulose pulp from purified wood fiber and has a cotton content of 25%. The paper will not degrade or cause harm to your artwork, photographs or documents. It is acid-free and buffered with calcium carbonate for a 2-3% alkaline reserve / pH of 9 ±0.5.

-  Note: Some suppliers of archival products are providing confusing information about the use of un-buffered boards and papers with photographic materials. Black-white and color photography (both conventional and digital output) should have mounts or enclosures made from buffered paper. This is the recommendation from the latest ISO document 18902, “Photographic Films, Papers Filing Enclosures”. The only items that need matting or storage in un-buffered papers are cyanotypes (architectural blue prints) and protein based textiles. ISO18902 is available at www.ansi.org,
