Interleaving Options - What are the differences?
INTERLEAVING OPTIONS

Keeping your prints, drawings and other artwork secure requires more than just quality storage boxes, you also need the right materials for interleaving. Here are some of the great options Archival Methods has for you for interleaving materials:

This material is not only great for interleaving prints, archival tissue can also be used to wrap gowns and textile items and cushion breakables. Our tissue is acid-and lignin-free, thin for easy folding, padding or crumpling and buffered for added protection. You can purchase 480 sheets per package or a 40 inch wide roll that's 1,000 feet long.

Archival paper is perfect for album pages, interleaving between prints or lining when an acid free surface is needed. Our acid-and lignin-free text weight paper is buffered with 2 percent calcium carbonate reserve to prevent environmental contamination. The National Archives and Records Administration recommend buffered paper stock for the storage of all photographic materials. This paper will not degrade and cause harm to your materials.

This archival grade glassine is used as interleaving for prints, etchings, watercolor, drawings and ink-jet prints. It can also be used for interleaving book illustrations, wrapping books and packaging paintings. However, glassine is not ideal for photographic negatives because film has a protective gelatin layer that glassine might stick to with high humidity and warm temperatures.

Archival polyester film is a very versatile material, thanks to the fact that it's inert and will not discolor or damage artwork. Its many uses include interleaving photographs and prints, encapsulating letters and documents, covering the window opening in mats and providing a barrier between archival material and surfaces containing acid. This material comes in optically clear rolls and sheets and is the equivalent of Mylar D or Melinex 516. We can trim the sheets to the size you need.

Use any of these interleaving options to give an extra layer of protection to your materials.
