Application: For matting, mounting and preservation of fine prints, precious documents, traditional and digital photography. For window mats and mat backing we recommend a thickness of 4-Ply, which creates a 1/16’’ separation between artwork and glazing and provides a flat, supportive backing.

 Features: Museum board is made of 100% cotton fiber. Boards are acid- and lignin- free and use alkaline or neutral sizing. All boards are buffered with calcium carbonate; this ensures protection from the destructive effects of a polluted environment that will cause the pH of paper to decrease with age.

 Museum Boards are made by laminating paper making 2 ply, 4 ply or 8 ply thickness; no filler core is used. When making a window mat the same color will show on the bevel cut as the top and bottom paper surface.

Specifications:
-  4-Ply / 60 Pt. (Approximately 1/16’’)
-  100% Cotton fiber pulp (99% Alpha Cellulose). It does not contain any post consumer waste recycled pulp. Paper is free of metal particles, waxes, plasticizers and residual bleach peroxide. Sulfur content is less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur. Iron content does not exceed 150ppm and copper does not exceed 6ppm. No optical brightening agents are used in the pulp.
-  Alkaline sizing is used for both internal and external sizing. No alum is used in the manufacturing process.
-  Buffered with calcium carbonate 2-3% alkaline reserve, pH 9 ±0.5, acid–free.
-  Color dyes are light-fast and non-bleeding.
-  Board will not degrade and cause harm to mounted matted artwork.
-  Board passes the PAT (Photographic Activity Test) ISO 14523 (formerly ANSI IT9.16).
-  Lignin content is tested by TAPPI 236 cm-85 and has a Kappa number of less than five.
-  The single ply sheets are laminated together using all natural starch adhesive.
-  Note: Some suppliers of archival products are providing confusing information about the use of un-buffered boards and papers with photographic materials. Black-white and color photography (both conventional and digital output) should have mounts or enclosures made from buffered paper. This is the recommendation from the latest ISO document 18902, “Photographic Films, Papers Filing Enclosures”. The only items that need matting or storage in un-buffered papers are cyanotypes (architectural blue prints) and protein based textiles. ISO18902 is available at www.ansi.org,
